Love Your Laugh with Smile Line Filler at Boston Medical Aesthetics

At Boston Medical Aesthetics, we specialize in advanced non-surgical treatments that enhance natural beauty. Our experienced aesthetic specialists use FDA-approved dermal fillers to restore volume and reduce the appearance of smile lines. We offer customized care that prioritizes your unique goals and comfort.

    What is Smile Line Filler?

Smile line filler is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment designed to smooth and soften nasolabial folds — the lines that extend from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth. Over time, these lines can deepen due to natural aging and volume loss. Using hyaluronic acid-based fillers such as Juvéderm and Restylane, this treatment restores lost volume, enhances facial contours, and provides a more youthful, natural appearance.

    Juvéderm

Juvéderm is a trusted brand of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers known for its smooth consistency and long-lasting results. Specifically designed to address moderate to severe facial lines, Juvéderm products provide instant results that can last up to one year. The formulation integrates seamlessly into your skin for a natural look and feel.

    Restylane

Restylane is another leading brand of hyaluronic acid fillers, offering versatile solutions for facial rejuvenation. Restylane products are tailored to smooth nasolabial folds while also supporting the skin's hydration and elasticity. Results typically last 6-18 months, depending on the product used and individual factors.

    Smile Line Filler Candidates

Anyone seeking a solution for moderate to severe nasolabial folds resulting from aging or volume loss may be a candidate for smile line filler. You should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations for the results. Patients with certain allergies or skin conditions may not be candidates. Our experienced team prioritizes your safety and will carefully assess your medical history and skin condition to ensure smile line filler is the right choice for you.

    Consultation and Preparation

During your consultation for smile line filler Boston facial contouring experts at BMA will learn about your goals and carefully assess your facial structure to develop a personalized treatment plan. To prepare for the procedure, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for at least one week before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising.

    Procedure

The smile line filler procedure is quick and straightforward, typically lasting around 30-45 minutes. A topical numbing agent may be applied to the treatment area to ensure your comfort. Using a fine needle or cannula, your provider will carefully inject the filler into the targeted areas to achieve smooth, natural results. After your appointment, you will be ready to resume your regular activities immediately.

    Results, Recovery, and Aftercare

Juvéderm and Restylane fillers offer immediate results that become more refined in the days following your treatment. Mild swelling or bruising may occur but typically resolve within a few days. You will be provided with clear aftercare instructions, including avoiding strenuous activities for the first 24 hours and using gentle products as the treatment area settles.

As any residual swelling subsides, you will notice smoother, more youthful skin with a visible reduction in smile lines. Our injectors aim to strike the perfect balance—maintaining the natural mobility of your expressions while building up natural-looking volume to smooth out nasolabial folds. Results can last for six months to a year, and periodic maintenance appointments can be scheduled to keep your skin looking its refreshed best.

    Filler Pre-Care Instructions

The following are important treatment instructions for you to understand to help avoid unsatisfactory results and complications.

    • Injectable fillers cannot be done if you have had any dental procedures, including routine cleanings two weeks before or after your filler appointment.
    • If you are taking medications that may prolong bleeding, you may experience increased bruising at the injection site. You must avoid aspirin, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, etc.), vitamin E, fish oil, ginger, ginkgo, green tea, garlic, ginseng, or St. John’s Wort for 10 days prior to your treatment. PLEASE INFORM US IF YOU ARE TAKING ONE OF THESE BEFORE YOU ARE INJECTED. If you are prescribed any of these medications by a different physician, you must consult with them prior to stopping any medication.
    • Arnica Forte tablets contain the herb Arnica and the pineapple-derived enzyme Bromelain, which help to minimize bruising and swelling. They can be taken one day before and up to seven days after your procedure.
    • If a laser treatment, chemical peel, or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered three to seven days before or after an injectable filler treatment, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site.
    • Injectable fillers should be used with caution in patients on immunosuppressive therapy, or therapy used to decrease the body’s immune response, as there may be an increased risk of infection.
    • The safety of injectable fillers for use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in patients under 18 years has not been established.
    • The safety of injectable fillers in patients with a history of excessive scarring (e.g., hypertrophic scarring and keloid formations) and pigmentation disorders have not been studied.
    • If you are prone to cold sores, please inform your provider. Antiviral medication may be recommended prior to your procedure.

    Filler Post-Care Instructions

    • It is normal to be somewhat red, tender, and swollen for several hours to days after filler injection, and bruising is always possible. It is advised that you continue to ice the area for one to three hours at 15-minute intervals, or as directed by the providers at Boston Medical Aesthetics. The lips may be tender and swollen for several days, if injected.
    • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (like Celebrex) for 24 hours to minimize bruising
    • No alcohol, no smoking, no nicotine, for 24 hours
    • No vigorous exercise for 24 hours
    • Keep the skin clean and makeup-free for 24 hours. Do not use any skincare products for 24 hours. Avoid touching the treated area and keep hair and cell phone away from your skin.
    • No dental procedures, including routine cleanings, for two weeks after filler.
    • Do not massage HA fillers or Radiesse unless specifically advised by your medical provider. Massaging these fillers can unintentionally displace the filler and cause more bruising and swelling.
