Who Is a Good Candidate for Under Eye Filler?

    Visible Signs of Aging

    • Fine Lines and Wrinkles: If you've started noticing the emergence of fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes, under-eye filler can help restore a smoother, more youthful appearance.
    • Volume Loss: Hollow or sunken areas beneath the eyes can be effectively addressed with under-eye filler, restoring lost volume for a rejuvenated look.

    Dark Circles

    • Persistent Dark Circles: Under-eye filler can be a game-changer for those with hereditary or lifestyle-induced dark circles, providing a refreshed and brighter appearance.

    Overall Healthy Skin

    • Non-Smokers: Non-smokers tend to be better candidates, as smoking can accelerate the aging process and affect skin elasticity.
    • Good Skin Quality: Candidates with generally healthy skin are likely to achieve optimal results. If you have any skin concerns, our experts can guide you on the best course of action.

    Realistic Expectations

    • Understanding the Procedure: Ideal candidates have a clear understanding of the under-eye filler procedure and realistic expectations regarding the outcomes.
    • Commitment to Aftercare: Those committed to following post-treatment care instructions are more likely to achieve and maintain optimal results.

Who May Not Be an Ideal Candidate for Tear Trough Filler

While tear-trough filler can work wonders for many individuals seeking to rejuvenate their under-eye area, it's important to recognize that not everyone may be an ideal candidate. At Boston Medical Aesthetics, we prioritize safety and optimal outcomes, and we want to ensure that our Boston under-eye filler patients are well-informed about candidacy criteria.

Individuals Not Ideal for Tear Trough Filler Include

    Health Conditions and Allergies

    • Allergic Reactions: Individuals with a known allergy to components of dermal fillers, especially hyaluronic acid-based fillers, may not be suitable candidates.
    • Autoimmune Disorders: Those with autoimmune disorders or a history of autoimmune diseases should consult with their healthcare provider to assess the safety of tear-trough fillers.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

    • Pregnant or Breastfeeding: It is generally advised to avoid cosmetic procedures, including tear trough filler, during pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to potential risks.

    Skin Infections or Diseases

    • Active Skin Infections: Individuals with active skin infections or diseases in the treatment area may need to postpone tear-trough filler until the skin is fully healed.
    • History of Keloid Scarring: Individuals with a history of keloid scarring may need to discuss their risk factors with our practitioners.

    Recent Procedures and Treatments

    • Recent Eye Surgery: Those who have undergone recent eye surgery or procedures may need to wait until they have fully recovered before considering tear-trough filler.
    • Previous Filler Injections: Individuals who have recently had filler injections in the same area may need to wait until the effects of the previous treatment have diminished.

    Unrealistic Expectations

    • Unrealistic Expectations: Candidates who have unrealistic expectations about the outcomes of tear trough filler may not be suitable. It's crucial to have a clear understanding of what the procedure can achieve.

What to Expect During Your Under Eye Filler Treatment

At Boston Medical Aesthetics, we understand that embarking on a cosmetic journey is a personal and exciting decision. If you're considering under-eye filler treatment to enhance your natural beauty, let us guide you through what you can expect during this transformative process.

    1. Complimentary Consultation

Your journey begins with a complimentary consultation with our skilled practitioners. This is an opportunity for you to discuss your concerns, goals, and expectations. Our experts will assess your under-eye area, answer any questions you may have, and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

    2. Pre-Treatment Preparation

On the day of your appointment, our team will guide you through pre-treatment preparations. This may include cleansing the treatment area and applying a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

    3. Precise and Artful Administration

Once you are comfortable, the under-eye filler will be skillfully administered by our experienced practitioners. Using precise techniques, the filler will be strategically placed to address your specific concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, or hollow areas.

    4. Minimal Discomfort

Under-eye filler treatments are generally well-tolerated, and any discomfort is usually minimal. Our practitioners prioritize your comfort and will communicate with you throughout the process to ensure you feel at ease.

    5. Post-Treatment Care

Following the procedure, our team will provide you with post-treatment care instructions. These guidelines are designed to optimize your results and may include recommendations on avoiding certain activities or products for a brief period.

    6. Minimal to No Downtime

One of the advantages of under-eye filler is that there is typically no downtime. Our under-eye filler patients can resume their daily activities immediately after the treatment. However, it's essential to follow the post-treatment care instructions provided by our team.

    7. Follow-Up and Enjoy Your Results

We care about your satisfaction, and a follow-up appointment may be scheduled to ensure you are delighted with your results. As the days pass, you'll continue to enjoy the full benefits of your under-eye filler treatment, revealing a more youthful and revitalized under-eye area.

    Filler Pre-Care Instructions

The following are important treatment instructions for you to understand to help avoid unsatisfactory results and complications.

    • Injectable fillers cannot be done if you have had any dental procedures, including routine cleanings two weeks before or after your filler appointment.
    • If you are taking medications that may prolong bleeding, you may experience increased bruising at the injection site. You must avoid aspirin, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, etc.), vitamin E, fish oil, ginger, ginkgo, green tea, garlic, ginseng, or St. John’s Wort for 10 days prior to your treatment. PLEASE INFORM US IF YOU ARE TAKING ONE OF THESE BEFORE YOU ARE INJECTED. If you are prescribed any of these medications by a different physician, you must consult with them prior to stopping any medication.
    • Arnica Forte tablets contain the herb Arnica and the pineapple-derived enzyme Bromelain, which help to minimize bruising and swelling. They can be taken one day before and up to seven days after your procedure.
    • If a laser treatment, chemical peel, or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered three to seven days before or after an injectable filler treatment, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site.
    • Injectable fillers should be used with caution in patients on immunosuppressive therapy, or therapy used to decrease the body’s immune response, as there may be an increased risk of infection.
    • The safety of injectable fillers for use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in patients under 18 years has not been established.
    • The safety of injectable fillers in patients with a history of excessive scarring (e.g., hypertrophic scarring and keloid formations) and pigmentation disorders have not been studied.
    • If you are prone to cold sores, please inform your provider. Antiviral medication may be recommended prior to your procedure.

    Filler Post-Care Instructions

    • It is normal to be somewhat red, tender, and swollen for several hours to days after filler injection, and bruising is always possible. It is advised that you continue to ice the area for one to three hours at 15-minute intervals, or as directed by the providers at Boston Medical Aesthetics. The lips may be tender and swollen for several days, if injected.
    • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (like Celebrex) for 24 hours to minimize bruising
    • No alcohol, no smoking, no nicotine, for 24 hours
    • No vigorous exercise for 24 hours
    • Keep the skin clean and makeup-free for 24 hours. Do not use any skincare products for 24 hours. Avoid touching the treated area and keep hair and cell phone away from your skin.
    • No dental procedures, including routine cleanings, for two weeks after filler.
    • Do not massage HA fillers or Radiesse unless specifically advised by your medical provider. Massaging these fillers can unintentionally displace the filler and cause more bruising and swelling.

Please call the office immediately at (617) 973-9700 for any of the following:

    • Purple lace appearance to the tissue also known as reticularis
