Experience a deeper level of beautiful skin
Dermaplaning is an exfoliating skin treatment performed at Boston Medical Aesthetics that can help improve dull skin without chemical peels or microdermabrasion. With just one treatment, you’ll immediately notice smoother skin and a more radiant, vibrant complexion.
Radiant skin in a single treatment
Our Boston Dermaplaning is a relatively simple, low-risk procedure that provides immediate cosmetic improvements. Unlike other skin rejuvenation techniques, dermaplaning doesn’t require any downtime, and you don’t need multiple procedures to see the results.
Dermaplaning can also help your makeup go on more smoothly and can help your skincare products penetrate the skin more effectively.
After your dermaplaning treatment at Boston Medical Aesthetics, you’ll enjoy:
Dermaplaning is a good choice for anyone who wants to improve the texture and tone of their skin and remove unwanted facial hair. Dermaplaning can be used on various skin types and is even appropriate for those with fine facial hair, extremely sensitive skin, rosacea, or visible facial veins. Dermaplaning is also very popular with patients who are pregnant or nursing who want a deep exfoliation, but are not advised to use most peeling agents on their skin.
Dermaplaning is not appropriate for people with active acne or keloid scarring. Our board-certified nurse practitioner or medical esthetician can help you decide if dermaplaning is right for you. In some cases, dermaplaning may be able to improve the appearance of minor acne scarring.
What to expect during Dermaplaning
For those seeking to enhance their skin with dermaplaning Boston board-certified nurse practitioner, Jennifer Canesi, or one of our experienced medical estheticians, can not only answer all of your questions, but also will evaluate your skin and develop an individualized approach for your skincare needs.
There is no prior preparation required before your treatment. Your skin will be cleansed of any makeup or oils before the dermaplaning procedure. Once your skin is ready, a medical-grade, sterile blade will be gently used to scrape dead skin and fine hair from your face. This process is virtually painless. The entire treatment from start to finish takes about 45 minutes and requires absolutely no downtime or pain medication.
After treatment, a moisturizing mask is applied to hydrate the skin. In some cases, a chemical peel may be used immediately after dermaplaning to enhance the exfoliating effects. Including other skin rejuvenation procedures, such as a HydraFacial, may also be beneficial for certain people.
How to protect your skin after Dermaplaning
Because your skin barrier is more vulnerable after dermaplaning, it’s recommended that you use sunscreen every day to protect your new skin layer from ultraviolet radiation. You may also want to avoid retinols or any products that might irritate the skin for 24-hours after your dermaplaning session. Many of our clients can and do wear makeup immediately after their procedures.
You may notice that your skin is slightly pink immediately following your dermaplaning procedure, but this is temporary and will resolve within a few minutes to hours. You are free to resume all regular activities immediately but are encouraged to avoid prolonged sun exposure.
Healthier skin for all to see
Your skin will look noticeably smoother, softer, and brighter with little to no facial hair after treatment. Some people worry that their facial hair will grow back coarser after treatment, but this is not the case. Fine facial hair returns softly and will not become thicker, darker or more noticeable because of dermaplaning.
To maintain the results from your dermaplaning procedure, our office recommends a regular skin care regimen that includes one dermaplaning treatment per month.
